We can re-register your vehicle from anywhere in Europe into Spain.
The first step is to ensure you have the correct documentation, you require a passport, NIE number and proof of your address in Spain or residencia card.
For further information regarding the documents required go to documentation page. The documents required for re-registration are identical to the requirements for transferring ownership of a vehicle purchased or sold in Spain.
The second step of the process is to bring your original logbook into our office and we can then provide a quote.
The cost of re-registering your vehicle will vary dependant on several factors, these include;
- The year your car was registered after manufacture
- The Engine size
- Car Emmisions / CO2
- Value of the vehicle (as per Spanish government listings)
- If your car requires new headlights (applicable to UK and Ireland manufactured vehicles)
- Car modifications reverted to original state
- Import tax legislation varies from country to country
You should also be aware that any alternations or modifications to the original manufacture of the vehicle will prevent your car passing the ITV required to process the re-registration. For example, if you have a tow bar fitted, the tow bar will require removing and the car reverted to its original state.
At GT Autos we provide a service to advise you on your vehicles requirements for your car to successfully pass the ITV re-registration test. We can also take your car to the ITV centre on your behalf.
We apply for your new registration number from the Spanish traffic department.
We order your number plates.
You insure your vehicle with the new registration details and return to GT Autos immediately for your new number plates to be fitted.
The process takes approximately 15 days.
